His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada appeared in this world in 1896 , in Calcutta, India. He is the 32nd Acharya in the line of Disciplic Succession in the Brahma Sampradaya . He founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in July of 1966.
In the years that followed, His Divine Grace gradually attracted tens of thousands of followers, started more than one hundred eight temples and published over 70 books. His achievement is remarkable in that he transplanted India's spiritual culture to the twentieth-century Western World.
In just twelve years, despite his advanced age, Srila Prabhupada circled the globe fourteen times on lecture tours that took him to six continents. Yet this vigorous schedule did not slow his prolific literary output. His writings constitute a veritable library of Vedic Philosophy, religion, literature and Vedic culture.
